What makes a good word list

Keep entries short. One or two words fit a square comfortably; long phrases shrink to fit and get hard to read across a room. Aim for around seventy-five entries so that no two cards feel like copies of each other, and avoid near-duplicates that players might confuse when a word is called.

For classroom use, a spelling list, a set of math answers, or a unit's vocabulary makes the game double as review. For parties, the best lists are specific: your group's running jokes beat generic party words every time.

How many cards to print

One card per player plus two spares covers late arrivals. For a class, print a set on card stock and slide each card into a sheet protector so students can mark squares with dry-erase markers and you keep the same set all year.
