Free Subtraction Bingo Cards

Subtraction bingo turns difference practice into a game students want to repeat. Cards are filled with answers, and the teacher calls problems aloud, so every square covered is a fact recalled under a little pressure.

The generator starts with the numbers 0 through 74. Replace them with the differences you are drilling, add a few distractors so students cannot guess by elimination, then print or download the PDF with a matching call sheet.

How to play subtraction bingo

  • Print one card per student plus a call sheet for yourself.
  • Call a subtraction problem instead of an answer, such as fifteen minus eight.
  • Students solve the problem, find the difference on their card, and cover it.
  • The first student to complete a row, column, or diagonal calls bingo.
  • Ask the winner to read back each answer with its matching problem to verify.

Setting up the answer list

For a focused fact set, list the differences you want students to master. Subtracting from ten, for example, becomes 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Add numbers like 11 or 12 as distractors.

For mixed review, pull differences from several levels. Keep the total list under forty entries so the cards stay varied without becoming crowded.

Classroom and homeschool ideas

Use a five-minute round as a math warm-up, or play a full blackout game on Fridays. Pair students so they can whisper-solve together before covering a square, which lowers anxiety for reluctant learners.

Laminate the cards or use sheet protectors and dry-erase markers so one set lasts all year. Markers can be beans, buttons, coins, or small erasers.
