How to run Valentine's bingo in a classroom

Print one card per student plus the call sheet, and hand out something edible as markers: conversation hearts, candy corn hearts, or mini marshmallows all work. Students cover a square each time you call a word, and whoever fills a line first calls bingo.

If you would rather keep the game candy free, print an extra sheet of small paper hearts and let students cut them out as markers. That also gives early finishers something to do while the rest of the class finishes their cards.

Ways to play

• Classic line: five in a row across, down, or diagonally.
• Four corners: fastest version, great when you only have ten minutes.
• Blackout: cover every square for the final round and a bigger prize.
• Picture round: for pre-readers, call the word and show the matching picture.
• Kindness round: every time a square is called, the caller reads a compliment aloud.

Prize and party ideas

Small prizes keep the game moving: a pencil, a sticker sheet, a heart eraser, or first pick of the treat table. Parents hosting at home can use a homemade certificate or the right to choose the next movie.
