Paper size and margins
The PDF is laid out for letter paper in the US and A4 elsewhere, so it prints correctly without any resizing. In your print dialog, set scale to 100% or 'actual size' rather than 'fit to page,' and keep the default margins. Fitting to page can shrink the grid just enough to make the border look uneven once it is cut or trimmed.
Home printer vs a print shop
For a handful of cards, a home inkjet or laser printer is the cheapest and fastest option, and black-and-white toner is plenty legible for a game. For a full class set, a party of fifty, or anything printed on cardstock, a print shop or office supply counter often works out cheaper per page and produces a crisper result, especially if you want color.
Cardstock is worth the extra cost whenever cards will be handled repeatedly. Pair it with a sheet protector and a dry-erase marker, or laminate the cards outright, and one printed set lasts an entire school year or many repeat game nights.
